PH balanced—a term we’ve all probably heard from personal care products. But what exactly is PH and why is a PH neutral cleaner so important in household products?
The pH scale is a numerical scale that indicates the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. The scale ranges from 0 to 14, with 7 representing a neutral substance. Anything less than 7 is an acid and anything greater than 7 is a base. As an example, water has a PH of 7.
PH is important in cleaners because it ensures that whatever is being cleaned won’t be stripped of its natural PH and ruined. In personal products, for example, using a product that is PH balanced will help maintain the skin’s natural balance of oils to prevent skin irritations. For cleaning products, PH balance for each type of formula is similarly important because different surfaces encounter different types of stains and soils, and each need to be treated with the proper PH formula so that the surface is cleaned but not stripped or ruined.
If your eyes are glazing over as they did in chemistry class, fear not. We’re not going to ask you to put on safety goggles and take out those chemistry PH papers before you tackle your Sunday cleaning. Here are all of the details you need to know about the Casabella Infuse line of cleaning products.
According to the Spruce, alkaline solutions, or cleaners with a PH greater than 7, are ideal to take on dirt, grease, proteins, oils, and other organic items. While cleaners more acidic, or with a PH of 7 or less, are best for removing calcium, rust, and other minerals.
PH formulated for specific surfaces
Each of the Casabella Infuse cleaning concentrates is PH formulated for specific surfaces to ensure each type of surface is thoroughly cleaned, safely, and without any harmful chemicals. Since common household surfaces, such as stainless steel, sealed wood, natural stone, glass, vinyl, and more tend to attract oils from food, proteins and other dirt hands and fingers touch and leave on surfaces, the All Purpose Surface Cleaner is formulated with a PH of 9.0 - 11.0, the Hardwood Floor and Multi-Surface Floor Cleaners have a PH of 6.5-8.0.
The Glass & Window Cleaner has a slightly lower PH of 6.0 – 8.0 and is formulated for a fragrance-free, ammonia-free, streak-free shine on a variety of glass surfaces, including mirrors and windows, windshields, high-gloss lacquered surfaces and more.
The Bathroom Surface Cleaner is has a PH of 1.1 - 2.5—a more acidic base to deep clean a variety of bathroom surfaces, including ceramic, porcelain and glazed tile, copper, bronze, and chrome bathroom fixtures, and bath and shower interiors.
Each cleaning concentrate is formulated with the ideal PH balance and without harsh chemicals, making them ideal solutions to conquer dirt while being gentle on the environment. Plus, the Infuse SaferShine formulas are non-toxic and free from Phthalates, Parabens, and Carcinogens. An even bigger plus, you can rest assured that our products are not tested on animals, ever.
