Scents and smells have a huge influence on how we experience environments. According to Scientific American, odors influence mood, work performance, and many other forms of behavior. We all know and have experienced how strong odors can ruin the ambiance of an environment. But on the contrary, when we inhale a familiar and favorable scent, especially ones that derive from nature, it can lift our mood, take us to a happy memory or give us a sense of tranquility.
Fragrances used in Casabella Infuse formulations are made from a blend of synthetically and naturally derived fragrance components. Naturally derived fragrances components come from essential oils and naturally occurring sources such as fruits, flowers, treemoss, oakmoss, and more. Synthetic aromatic raw materials fall into the categories of chemically modified natural raw materials, nature-identical raw materials, and aroma chemicals that do not exist in nature. Fragrances used in Casabella formulations are approved for use by EPA’s Safer Choice Program, where Safer Choice screens all ingredients for chemicals that may present serious health or environmental effects. Under the interim Safer Choice criteria, listed carcinogens, mutagens, or reproductive/developmental toxicants (CMRs); listed persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic compounds (PBTs); and listed respiratory sensitizers are not allowed. To advance transparency, product manufacturers certified by Safer Choice must disclose dermal sensitizers. Non-fragrance materials (e.g., solvents) present in fragrance formulations are also evaluated under their appropriate Safer Choice functional class criteria to ensure the fragrance as a whole reflects a safer aroma option than other fragrances used in similar products on the market. Each fragrance material that is a skin sensitizer is limited to no more than 0.01% in the final product. Additional fragrance information can also be found at the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) and available on IFRA's Web site (http://www.ifraorg.org/).
